Book Early For 2011 Big Bear Oktoberfest!

We got so lucky with this place.  My boyfriend and I had plans to stay with friends at Big Bear but our plans fell through at 11:30 PM on a Friday night and we had no back-up plan. Not knowing the area well we tried the first place we saw, a dingy looking Motel 6, and they were asking for $95 and offered no AAA or Military discount.  Thank God for TripAdvisor I thought I'd take a shot in the dark and called the #1 rated place in Big Bear, the Mallard Bay Resort.  The kind owner answered the phone and quoted us a rate lower than the dingy Motel 6! No brainer!  We arrived around midnight and the gentleman was so kind to show us the cozy queen-sized room with spotless kitchen.  We felt SO lucky!  The room was quiet and sooo cute and clean. The owner turned the heater on for us when we had first called so that it would be warm for us when we arrived.  This is one of the cleanest places I've ever stayed.  they clearly take pride in their facility and care for their guests.  The owner told us that even though all of the expected arrivals were already there for the evening, he answered our call because he know sometimes people get stranded out in the cold of winter.  My favorite part of the room was the well-equipped kitchen. Everything was clean and new and had everything one would need for cooking and feeling right at home.  Perfect for a week-long stay!  When we woke up in the morning we were able to see for the first time in daylight the lovely  property over-looking the lake. We wished we could have stayed longer!  We know exactly where we'll be staying next time we come out to Big Bear and will plan on staying longer.  Thanks for everything Mallard Bay!  (Review of Big Bear Lodging and Hotels)
